My Life Rocks
Apr. 23rd, 2009 06:47 pmEvery once in a while, I try to glance over my shoulder and see what's behind me.
It's not something that can be accomplished every day, and usually just one glance is hardly sufficient to really take in the entirety of the complicated landscape that spreads out.
But sometimes, I manage to see it all. Or most of it. And I usually like what I see.
Childhood on a yacht, travels abroad, martial arts, cinema, writing, trouble with the police and other authorities, interesting army service, meeting the love of my life, two wars (one which took place while said love was overseas), longing, depression, highs—and those are just the highlights.
Sure, there are boring days, frustration and questioning, but when you get to the bottom line it's been one hell of a ride so far, and it isn't showing any signs of slowing down.
There are things I would like to change (and probably still will). There are things that are far from ideal. Still, I cannot find a single thing I can truly complain about.
If I look in the direction this crazy, weird, bumpy, wind-and-steam powered buggy-car-ride-that-is-my-life is going, all I can feel is hope and happiness.
So stick around. I know I will.
